The MAC (Metropolitan Arts Centre) is recognised as ‘the’ cultural hub in Northern Ireland. For over 13 years, it has been showcasing international artists and performers, challenging norms and engaging communities. The MAC is well established, and at a point of maturity, calling for brand clarity.

As the design partner for the MAC, we are collaborating closely with the MAC to evolve their brand. We’ve made a conscious decision to spell out Metropolitan Arts Centre as part of the parent logo, simplifying the sub-brands and introducing a fresh, streamlined colour palette.

Their mission is clear “We are committed to using art to inspire, challenge and connect the world around us.”

In alignment with this mission we have developed fluid graphic ‘lines of connection’ that emphasises the people and communities that the MAC serves.

There are many varied strands to the MAC’s work – Live Shows and Theatre, Visual Arts, Creative Learning, CaféBar, corporate strands such as Hire and Friends alongside strategic themes such as Climate in Action and Race and Equality. We are developing a graphic system that provides distinct identities for these various strands while ensuring that they all belong to a cohesive family brand.
